Free DJ diamond motion HELP

Postby newtcruiser » Fri Jun 01, 2007 8:33 am

Hi everyone

Hey I am the first to use this new topic. I don't know if anyone has downloaded the free Motion Element Diamond from the DJ site, but if someone has and it works for them, please tell me what I am doing wrong.

I downloaded it and when I try to drag it into PSP it just won't load. Do I have to do something with it in Juicer? It comes as a QT file. Thanks for any helping hands!!!!

The biggest issue is that it is an MDE. It contains an alpha channel as part of the animation. this makes it a 32 bit animation file which Producer does not directly support. If you have access to a video editor, it is easy enough to pull the alpha channel off the file and save it as two separate files. (I use Premeire elements to do this.)

Here is an example using the free MDE using the process I hinted at above...

PM if your interested in how I extracted the Alpha channel using Premiere.

Hi Linda, If Mike's suggestion doesn't help ( probably will tho) try the post that Mark did for lower thirds. I haven't played with the diamond, hopefully this weekend will be Juice time.....Cheers Jan

Hi Jan

thanks for your reply. The problem is that you don't have the option to separate the alpha channel because it is already an MDE file. I am afraid I don't have Premiere Elements so will have to try and find some other way to separate the channels.

Hey Mike

thanks for your suggestion, but as I mentioned to Jan I don't have Premiere. I have Photoshop CS, but I don't think I can do it there and my knowledge of Photoshop is. . . . . "if I can't click a mouse and have it work, I don't do it". Maybe when I retire I will have time to try and get a handle on Photoshop. By the way, really cool demo.

Thanks again

Linda,

You can download the free Juicer 3 software on Digital Juice's website. This is different from Adobe Premiere.
The post Jan just listed called: Mark's Lower Third Recipe should apply.

I'm pretty sure you can do MDEs this way without using a video editor. In fact, I think I did one last night this way but my memory's fading. ;-)

Thanks Skiyak

I already have Juicer, but my problem is I don't know how to use it to separate the channels when it is already in the .mov format (which is how is comes when dowloaded). If you understand how, please let me know I would love to be able to use this diamond in my project. Thanks again.

The lower thirds trick won't work with a freebie element as the juicer product does not pull things off of a hard drive. If you want, I can host the alpha file I created for this to allow you to download. Just let me know.

So you can't load anything that you have stored on the hard drive? I have the discs so I haven't tried that. Thanks for that, Jan

Hi Mike

That is what I thought. I couldn't see any way that I could add the downoloaded file to the Juicer to re-render (if there is such a word). I would appreciate any help that you can give me. Thanks again. It is so great to be able to get help from all these GREAT folks on this forum. When time is important it sure saves a lot of it if you have some help. You can e-mail me at newtcruiser@telus.net.
