Best software/equipment to convert VHS, etc., to DVD
I am interested in converting VHS, and other older media, to DVD. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Yes, that is probably one of the better ones for the money. I have the older version of it (ADVC-100) which works quite well. The older one (ADVC-100) had the ability to bypass macrovision, unfortunately, I don't believe any of the newer ones have that feature any more. It was very handy for being able to convert those old purchased VHS tapes to a DVD the family could watch on their current equipment instead of having to have the old VHS player around (which tends to eat tapes as they get older). There used to be the ADVC-300 also available that had a number of advantages including a frame buffer so it could re-sync video that had "jitter" in it (not the same as image stabilization), but I see it is no longer available. You might want to snoop around on GrassValley.com for more info on what they have.

Hi,
I use Pinnacle Studio with hardware to convert VHS and MiniDV home videos to DVD. I like the ability to upload straight from my VHS/DVD player to computer via hardware. From there create projects to edit footage, add captions, music, chapters and menus. The project option is handy when you need to create unique DVD's to share with extended family members and friends. While you create a master DVD for your viewing/archives, you might not want to include certain chapters or events with others and projects let you easily personalize. This was very handy creating DVD's by year since my collection was massive. I was able to personalize DVD's for family by what I thought would be of interest to them. If you have questions, post back.

PS- Plus I use Studio to edit HD footage before adding to my Producer projects.

Hi Mikey,
I just checked out your link and if someone already has a video editing program, that would definitely be the route to go.
