FastStone Image Viewer
As many of you, for a very long time, I used IrfanView
to organize, view, rename and read the exif of my photos.
Recently I discovered that photography teachers, in schools
and colleges, recommend FastStone Image Viewer to their students.
I have been using it for a few months with great satisfaction,
very modern and intelligent interface, very complete out of the box.
It is completely free for non-commercial use. It is truly a wonderful
program. I also have ACDSee 2009 but I prefer to work in FastStone
Image Viewer most of the time.
Have fun.

Re: FastStone Image Viewer
I personally use "FastStone" as an "on the fly" photo enhancer. The program is geared to photographers with large volumes of photos that simply need quick fix, enhancement or crop job. Although this program has many more attributes than needed for quick fixes, the time equivalent is simply unmatchable. As a "free" photo enhancing program, I was impressed beyond belief and it took no time for me to send in a few bucks as a donation, to prove my point. This program has proven to be invaluable time and time again. Strange, but the saying is so true in that "the best things in life are free" !!
If you have not tried it, give it a whirl. You won't regret the download time. If you think it's worth it's weight, then consider a donation to keep the author of the code working on it. It will be money well spent. Nuff said!!

Two thumbs up here for FastStone! Been using it for years now and would miss it terribly if I didn't.
