How to set up the external video editor ?
Hello,
I want to use PSP 4 with Cyberlink PowerDirector 8 as external video editor.
In edit--->preferences---> external editors
I've set the full path to the PDR8.exe file.
What do I have to do now ?
All what I've obtained with the above procedure is to *launch* PD8 when I invoke the external video editing function inside PSP.
I mean I just *invoke* the program, as I would invoke it from the start-->programs menu.
The video clip on which I'm working (and would like to edit externally) does not open, I have to open it manually.
Is this the "external editor" facility or do I miss anything of the setup procedure ?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Rob

Re: How to set up the external video editor ?
I'm going out on a limb here because I haven't edited video in PSP, but have you imported your video into Producer (into a slide) and then right-clicked to edit in external editor?
(I'm trying to go from memory here because I'm not at the computer that has Producer installed.)

Re: How to set up the external video editor ?
yes, correct.
the video clip is inside a slide.
---> right click on the slide ---> customize slide ----> open in Editor
The result is that the external program is launched. Stop.
But I was expecting that the external program was launched with the video already open in it

Re: How to set up the external video editor ?
The above is certainly how it works for images if an image editor is set up. Photoshop, in my case, opens with the image ready for editing.
Once again I have not been a user of video in my shows, so cannot answer there.

Yes, you've set it up correctly, the video should open in your editor. I don't know Power Director (I use Vegas), are there be any preferences in Power Director that might stop the video from loading?
