Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
Thanks in advance for answering this question - my work this last month has taken me WAY out of my usual orbit - so thanks to all who have helped -
Downloaded Snagit and at this point mainly want it to include in these posts to clarify my problems - I can get the image I want but have no idea how to get it pasted into a topic post...am feeling very stupid/under-educated these days but learning fast.
Yes I've tried ctrl v - works in Word but not here - what do I need to do??
Thanks - Deborah

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
The secret is that you can't include an image directly into a post here (at least not that I am aware of). What you need to do is have a publicly available server where you can save your images then you provide a link to the image on the server in your post here. I use a free account on Photobucket for my stuff. The other requirement is that the image you are linking in can't be more than 600 pixels in either dimension I think (although it might just be 600 wide). Snagit is a great utility - I use it all the time (makes an excellent way to make notes for yourself on how you had something configured in Producer or some other app - just keep a screenshot of the config page. Be sure and check out the video tutorials the Snagit folks have too - lots of cool things you can do with it.
When you include the link here to the image you want to show, you want to use the "img" format which puts some HTML tags on the link so it gets included that way. On Photobucket, one of the options on copying a link for an image you have there is listed as "Img format" or something like that.
Let us know if you still are having problems and I can fill in any details you need.

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
Thanks Mikey -
You really are a true guiding light down the techno path ... can't tell you how much your info on ISOs helped last week - really made a difference once I got the hang of things!!
Ok off to Photobucket - when I get this figured out what I want to show is the config for a new system I'm thinking of buying - easier to post a screen shot than try to list all the components --
Thanks again - be back soon - Deborah

Another feature Snagit has that I just found out about (and have not played with yet) is the ability to grab text from a "snag" - for example, a directory listing - you can select you want the text from it and it will copy it to the clipboard if I remember correctly. Also handy for text lists of other types (config info etc). Don't remember the exact details, but one of their video tutorials showed it.
See their video tutorials at http://www.techsmith.com/learn/snagit/10/ and check out the one on "capture modes" for how to capture a directory listing etc to a text file (clipboard).

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
OK - this is the third try keep getting bounced out of this page...
It isn't working for me... when I paste --http://s761.photobucket.com/albums/xx259/leialohaalae/ProShowData/--
between the img brackets and hit preview I get error message: It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image.
I get the same error message when I paste --http://www.screencast.com/t/Y2VhNGQ5-- from Snagit's screen cast upload.
screencast also gives me this option for an embedded link but I get the same error message

What am I doing wrong??

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
OK, had to sort of sneak up on this one to avoid the code from being translated as code -- here was a recent post I did (see the pictures at "Dirty Deeds" post for muddy dogs).
It seems to me I have run into the issue before with "unable to determine image dimensions", but off hand, I can't remember what it was that was causing it (that helps a lot doesn't it )

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
Deborah -
I think you are almost there. It looks like you did not copy the entire img link. I am posting a couple of screen grabs that I hope will help.
The page from photobucket:
Be sure to copy the entire link from this part of the menu, you do not see the entire link, generally I try to make sure I drag across the entire link and I see the [/img] I circled in red the link code to copy and paste into the forum.
Hopefully these helped you out.

Re: Getting Snagit Image into Posting-need help
Ok - thank you Scott and Mikey
Back into Photobucket
-what I think was wrong (ignorance of Photobucket) was I did not have single image selected.
Selected single image (as opposed to selecting Album) and ...
.... hot diggy ding dong it works Yeah Team ...
OK now back to where I started 3 hours ago. I am going to re-post this on troubleshooting as I want feedback on the specs for a new system which will hopefully address some of the ProShow technical issues I've have over the last few weeks.
Huge thanks to all who take the time to respond and keep with the posts until I finally figure it out.
