Yes, it's been around for awhile and can be very useful.
The quality of printed collages is very good.
The original focus of the software was to create collages and view them online (click on the image and it would open full size) or for printing. Over time, it changed and now there's more emphasis on scrapbooking and things like that.
I've had it in mind to make use of one of the collages within Proshow but haven't gotten to it yet.

I have used FotoFusion and it would highly recommend it. I also use it to build templates out and then auto-populate them with a series of photos. If you have the software and want to see a demo of that, I posted on on Vimeo for a friend of mine that does a lot of sports team photos. It isn't a great demo, but the software is.
