Adobe Photoshop 6.0

Postby photoshowstudio » Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:23 am

I recently acquired Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and really have no clue how to use it. I know there are some comments here, but most of them seem to be about Lightroom, CS, etc, and not specific to Photoshop. I also know there are hundreds of sites out there that have clues and such on how to use Photoshop, but are there any specific sites or forums you personally have found helpful? I once saw one that showed how to create a picture that cut off the border of the picture before the picture actually ended so it looked like the rest of the picture was extending beyond the defined frame. Would love to see that one again too, but can't seem to find it. I'm very excited to use the new program, but I just need pointers on where to find the best sites to help me.

PS 6 is really old, but still useful - you might want to check out sites like http://www.lynda.com - they have excellent online training materials although probably not that far back. I would seriously consider upgrading to a newer version ! Photoshop is very heavily into things like layers and masking and while it takes a bit to learn, it is very powerful and you can do almost anything with it.

The technique you are talking about is called "OOB" (Out Of Bounds). There have been a couple of threads here on it and there is a good tutorial and examples at the following links:

You can't have too many gadgets or too much disk space !!

Hi Photoshowstudio ??
There's an online community called NAPP, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, which is tied to a subscription of PhotoshopUser Magazine with Scott Kelby as "the Man". If you eventually decide to move ahead w/photoshop then I would reccommend you check NAPP out. I've subscribed to them for years now & it really is a great tool. Not only to you get their Magazine but their Website is just filled with everything from essays to tutorials & everything else in between. But I must admit the learning curve seems endless but I feel thats the way it should be.
