CaptionsAlive Pro

Postby Dave Fitzpatrick » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:27 am

For those of you who have been asking about it, I just wanted to let you know that CAP is finally finished and a fully functioning trial version can be found at http://www.mediadigitronics.com

To see what CAP does, go either here for YouTube:

or here for Photodex's sharing site:

Dave--

One Word. Awesome. I am in.

Could you just explain a little bit how the program works. I assume it is a stand alone program that will save a separate .avi. How does that then get incorporated into PSP and how does it interact with other slides, etc?

Thanks.

Kevin, the intro video goes into that a bit. I plan to make more comprehensive and to-the-point tutorial videos soon. But, CAP AVI's are placed into Producer just as any other AVI would be. You can build the full AVI as you'd like it to display in CAP or you can opt to build a B&W mask in CAP which you can then use as a layer mask in Producer. I tend to go that way when using Producer since it is more flexible, i.e. easy to resize/reposition and change the playback speed and color. In Producer, the layer stack would just be:

(1) B&W AVI mask built in CAP (set as an intensity/grayscale layer mask)

(2) Solid color layer of the color you want your text to be

(3) Your image

Hope this helps,

Dave

Dave,

I knew this was in the works for some time. Congratulations on your release. I d/l'd the trial version and will give it a spin.
I know I'm going to like it. I just have to convince my wife it's a MUST HAVE

Thank you,
Smitty

You've done it again.......I'll definitely buy it, but we're leaving for Europe in 10 days......I'll play with the trial version until I get back..........

Another "must have" for PSP

Thank you............you may consider some tutorials as you find time....

Mikey's right. Cancel the trip. Dave has designed a flat-out winner with Captions Alive Pro, and unlike a trip, you'll have it forever.

So excited to have this available, have been looking for something like this.

Downloaded the trial, but maybe used all my brain cells at work today, but I just
can't understand how to see how this works. Am I missing something, or where does
it tell you how to work the program?

Thanks and apparently you will need to type v-e-r-y slowly for me to understand this. :D

Appreciate any help,
Terri

Terri, you really can't hurt anything by just trying stuff with CAP.

Start off this way:

Just type your name into the top text box and hit the Draw Text button. When your name displays, hold your mouse down on it and move it around - center it, for example. You could build this as an AVI right at this point and use it as a layer mask in Producer by clicking the Build AVI File button. That's about it. Type some characters, click to draw, position the text, and build the AVI. It's ready to be dropped on the Producer time line.

If you want to build a useable AVI in CAP without masking in Producer, click the Set BG Color button and change it to a color of your choice and then change the text color to something complimentary. Hit the Draw Text button to see what you've got. To really get crazy quickly, check the Emboss check box and redraw. Then mess around with the BG color and the text color to get something you like. Any time along the way, you can build your AVI by hitting the Build AVI File button.

That should get you going.

There are samples and tutorials in the Help System also.

Thanks Dave,
I thought that's what I should be able to do. I reinstalled the trial and now it is working. First install
must have not worked right.

I WILL enjoy this and be purchasing ASAP!

Thanks,
Terri
