Mute Video Sounds
Is there a way to mute the audio on the video I placed into a slide? I only want to hear my background music not the sound that is part of captured video.

OK... After a brief search of "General Discussion", I found help someone gave to a similar question. They said that you can't mute the video sound from inside Producer, but suggested taking the clip into Windows Movie Maker and making my adjustment there. In WMM, under tools, they have "control video volume". I was able to use this to mute the video audio so that only my background music is heard. Thanks to all who respond to these querries with helpful info.

One thing to consider if you are going to be working with video very
much is one of the lower end video editors such as Sony Vegas Movie Studio,
Premiere Elements etc. All in the $100 range or less. They allow you to
do LOTS of things with the video including splitting the sound track off
totally if you want. Most of them have trial download versions. Recently,
I have been playing with the Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum which
has some extra features I wanted. Check them out - they have a lot
of power for working with video.

Lucy,
I'm not using Producer but in PSG it is possible to mute the audio on video in a slide. In PSG on the Layers tab there is a section called Video Clip Settings. There is a slider for volume. If I change the volume to 0% my video sound is muted and the background music continues to play normally.

mute audio in video
Barbara.. I just tried your suggestion about muting the audio in a video clip in PSP and it works just as you said. I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, and all this time it was right in front of me.... thanks for the tip .Loulou

Video Mute
Ditto to LouLou's comments!! Barbara, do you have any other inspiring tips?
I did find out that the video cannot be in "play" mode when adjusting volume, but other than that it works beautifully!

Barbara:
I would like to fade the volume of the audio portion of a video clip towards the end of the slide. I see where you changed the volume to 0% but that is for the whole slide. Where can I go to select the last part of the slide to reduce the volume?
If you are going to be doing any work with video, give serious
thought to buying something like Sony Vegas Movie Studio (or
the Platinum version) $60/$110 or so. Another option that gets
good reviews is Adobe Premiere Elements. There are others also.
The work well with (well, the Sony does so far) Producer and make
it easy to do things with the video that you could not even consider
with Proshow (it also handles stuff with alpha channel like Digital
Juice stuff as well as chroma key, overlays and all sorts of fun
stuff !! ).
