New feature allows a way to time slides to a beat of a song

Tip of the day:
This may be well known but I was suprised when I ran across it. I have always wanted a way to time slides to the main beat of a song but found it very difficult to time it. In the new 3.0 version you can now see the wave form. By default it does not show.

It’s very manual; it would be nice if they could have the slideshow could automatically do it.

Right-click on the sound track below the slides and select “Show WaveFormâ€

Thanks for that... I haven't even run my new version of Producer yet, but I have been collected all the hints, tips and ideas that have appeared in the Forum so far! Hopefully, when I get around to creating my first show it'll be a breeze(?)!

Note that while the mouse is over the sound track (and the two blue
dots are visible) that the scroll wheel on the mouse also will expand
and shrink the timeline for you (zoom).

Also note that in that mode, you can not only move the slides with
the mouse to time them, but adjust the duration of the transition by
grabbing the edge of the transition. Be aware that if you shrink a
slide time by 1/3 for example it appears that it also adjusts the
transition by the same amount (I would prefer that I could change
the slide time without having the transition time change also).

You can. Holding down the Ctrl key or the Alt key (I think those are the right keys) gives you different results when dragging the timing for either a slide or a transition.

Two things here:

1) How did you manage to include the screen clip in your
post? I was going to show one of the "scrubber for keyframes"
the other day and could not find the incantation.

2) Something that is really needed (well, I think so anyway) for
being able to sync to the beat of the music would be an option to
turn on a "low pass filter" function on the sound track. Their
display only shows amplitude in the sync mode you showed and
not the frequencies -- when you are trying to time to the "beat",
what you really need to see is the sound track with only the low
frequencies showing (the beat). I have run into this several times
where there is a "burst" that turns out to be voice or high frequencies
and does not work at all when you sync to it - it just does not
sound right. Ideal solution would be a checkbox or something
for "show beat" or "enable low pass" or something like that.
They already scan the audio to provide the amplitude display, it
should not be that much harder to add a low-pass function.

If you would like to include a screen shot, you need a screen caption software to capture the image you want. Then you need to save it and put it somewhere on a web site, if you have a place to store pictures.
Then use the Img button when posting here:



Click on the img button then insert the address of where the picture is, then click on the img button again.
That should get your picture in the post.....

Thanks -- Barbara had told me how she did it. I then actually engaged
brain and right clicked the picture and noticed what the url was. One
of those "duh" moments - I had assumed (without bothering to check)
that you guys had managed to include the picture the way you do in a
word doc or email etc. Sigh. I'm awake now !
