music editing on mac

Hi All! I've just changed over to a mac and am finding that editing music is heaps more difficult. I can't use the control etc shortcuts for ending music and doing fades. Anyone have ideas? Its so much harder having to go into the editor and dealing with times etc.
Also does anyone know how we can get some of the great sound effects and music from imovie to use in producer? I'm using producer via parallet desktop.
