Easy Skew Using Webdings g

Fri Apr 29, 2011 3:56 pm

In an earlier post, someone asked how to skew photos in Producer. This is not an answer to that problem, but it can give the effect with limitations. The skewed pictures are created using Webdings font and the lowercase g. The link below is to a show of different slides using this trick. The slides are not meant to blend into a cohesive show, just random slides I played around with. Give it a try, it might work for your project. :D

The show is 5 or 6 slides and probably a minute or so long. Nothing offensive. Everything was done in Producer; no outside editor used.

Hi Anna,

What a wonderful idea! and original too !

If I understand correctly, you are using the feature Use Texture On Caption > Image

Just a word of caution with this feature:
In Producer 4.5, up to build 4.51.3003 (current one), this feature causes problems when we create video.
As Photodex is aware of this problem, we are awaiting their fix.

Now that is something new.
I wonder how you came up with this. Beats me.

PD,
I've never had an original thought in my life and this one wasn't either. The idea came from Jennifer's (VidQueen) recent tutorial on filling captions with an image; a recent post asking how to skew photos in Producer; and this discussion from a year or so ago: http://www.proshowenthusiasts.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15502&hilit=+bees

Ann,

Maybe, but you gave it a new twist.

.....thanks for reminding me of those links.
I had tried the digital roses with limited succes. The reason for that is that I wanted to use normal fonts instead of digits and would not work correctly. I will have to play around with it again, My 'To Do' list keeps getting longer and longer and I do not seem to be able to cross out anything from the top.

This is an interesting alternative use for texture on caption. A tiny caveat comes to mind... the more skewing is done, the more distorted the image. But it might have its uses. Thanks for sharing your idea Anna! :D

Thanks, Anna, for bringing up a topic I knew nothing about and doesn't intuitively come to mind when just playing around.

I'm awestruck with this concept that was begun with RozReg's digital roses. I'm scratching my head and wondering how someone even comes up with such an idea, but now that I have been teased I know I must see if I can do it some justice as well.

Thank God for the archives. There is a treasure chest of information stored in those files.

To those who understand programming:
Is there some reason Photodex can program in the skewing of captions but not photos?

Go for it, Anna. Write to Photodex and ask them that question. Maybe it'll shame them into giving us skew.

Not 100% sure if it's the only reason, but fonts are vector graphics and photos are bitmap graphics. It's the reason why you can enlarge a caption to virtually any size without getting any "jaggies". And also why it's so easy to make the text italic (skewed) or bold.

Joe, there's absolutely no call for being logical. :D

Joe,
I agree with Barbara. There's absolutely no reason to respond to an emotional rant with logic and scientific facts. Life is too short for such nonsense.
