HP - - CD/DVD tattoos

Postby shoebox » Thu Apr 12, 2007 8:11 am

Has anyone used these? We are always on the look-out to produce the highest quality product for our customers, while of course keep our cost to a minimum.

The promises look good, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Currently we LS all our DVDs.

Hello Eli,

I just started using them on a recommendation from a friend. I like them so far. Pretty easy to use and you get a couple practice sheets to help with alignment on your printer. Very nice color and look to be durable. Also, when you order from HP online store, next day shipping is free so you get them tomorrow at no extra cost. I also use memorex DVD case inserts that I get from Staples. The 2 products combined make a very attractive package for small runs. For larger runs check out "Disk Makers" on the web.

Cost

Pretty expensive, $10 for 15 of them. Inkjetting is much more cost effective.

To me it looks very much the same as 'Pressit' printable labels and will no doubt have the same out of balance problems when the disc is spinning. I would not put a disc with a stuck on label in my player now, seen too many that want to part company with the disc.

At least 'Pressit' labels had a device for centering the label on the disc and pressing it flat. To rely on the disc in the box location is asking a bit much. Like cfeather I'll stick to 'Printable' CD/DVD's, easy, cheaper and no balance problems.

Thanks for all the replies. Nannybear I agree with you. I still like the durability and look of the LightScribe. My only issue is that this project requires 300 copies. I can buy a duplicator and printer for almost the same about as having them printed and duplicated.

I know now with the "Watershed/Waterproof" inkjet media that the inkjet printers may be the way to go. This project is for an elementary school, with young children and dvd's so I think durability is a must.

Any suggestions on inkjet CD/DVD printers???

I love my epson R200. Very inexpensive and hasn't let me down in two years of business.
