Photoframes as templates

Postby Italiamipiace » Tue Nov 25, 2008 10:50 am

Hi,

i'm looking for photoframes created as templates for PSP.
With a photoframe I mean a solid border and the inside transparent, so you can load it in a layer and the image in the layer underneath.

Does anyone has this?

or the name of a program that creates such photoframes.

I know how to create them in Photoshop (even with actions) but the workflow is too long when using a lot of pictures in a slide show :P  .

Anyway, tkx

Well Nannybear,

my juices pushed me to write a note on how to create frames and use them in PSP!
It was snowing here, so nothing better to do.

Can you tell me how and where I can upload this Word document to share it with other people?
I have a few other Word docs in the pipeline about Keyframing, Motions, Mask and related stuff. Just don’t know where to put hem.
In fact, I produce a Word note off everything I try to do in PSP … :D :D

Tkx,

Alex

I have vols 1 and 2 of the DJ Animated Frames (they're about $50 a piece, unless you can get a special on them). I haven't exactly found them to be all that useful for frames I would want to use in PSP. I also have Auto FXs Photo/Graphic Edges. This latter I find more useful. The only real problem is that it costs $179 (unless you can get them at a special price)... but it does have a lot of different types of frames and edges in it. This is a plugin to a photo editor. Once you've got your frame you can manipulate the heck out of it. I usually use the frame graphic as a graphic above a mask that is used to keep the image below that frame graphic clipped to the window in that frame. (so, layer 1 is the image used as the frame; layer 2 is the mask sized to the frame window; layer 3 is the image that is visible in the frame window)... works for me!

Auto FX PGE: http://www.autofx.com/products/pge/detail.html
DJ Frames:
(1) http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/pr ... sp?pid=182
(2) http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/pr ... sp?pid=181

But, if you know how to use a graphic editor fairly well, it's not all that hard to create some really nifty frames w/o the huge investment these other routes can represent!

Jan and Dale,

Tkx for the info.
I now understand what "Digital juices" stands for :D :D :D I thought it was a kind of joke ...

Meantime I downloaded some frames from the web and enhanced them in Photoshop.
If the link to Mike works, I'll upload some notes of mine about how to do it.

Another good software is Photoframe. Downloaded the demoversion and looks great, but $499 for the full version !!!
I know the euro is strong but not so strong :P
If interested, here is the link: http://www.ononesoftware.com/detail.php?prodLine_id=10

cheers,

Alex

Jan,

You're right. I think I drunk too mush of our excellent Belgian beer yesterday.
It’s the Plug-In suite 4 that has that nice price.

Greetings,

Alex

All who want... PM me your email address... you'll need to covert them to your software.... all that entails is to change the extention...

Here is a DL link to the frames... This will make it easier than for me to sent everyone a link...

No need to buy any new software....

You can make a "frame" with a hole in it, of any color in Producer, without the need of any 3rd party software.

Add a simple rectangle gradient layer, pull the black and white color arrows (one over the other toward the center) to remove the gradient area, then apply a chroma key feature, picking white, to remove the white area so the image shows through and set the intensity threshold to about 8 (may vary) to get rid of the last part of the white.

You'll have to fiddle with the position of the arrows to adjust the size of the hole you want. Ideally, the white arrow is directly in the same place as the other colored arrow to remove all of the gradient area in that layer.

If you don't want black, the color can be changed to anything you want with the usual "set color" options. I often use the eye dropper to pick up a coordinating color for such things.

No Photoshopping necessary!

The same can be done with different shaped gradient layer choices - round, diamond, etc. If you grab the preview screen of the gradient in the gradient editing window, you can move the hole around and off set it any way you wish.

If you need to resize a tiny bit after inserting in a slide, unlock x & y and fiddle by stretching it vertically or horizontally.

Is this sort of what you were looking to accomplish?

I'm pretty sure the gradient can be saved in a template like anything else.

It will take a bit of playing to get used to using that "insert gradient layer" feature but it's very powerful and gives you a big variety of choices for making nicer backgrounds than a flat color and for making these frames, etc.
