I have a few questions about your photoframe using a mask.
layer 1 is the image used as the frame;
layer 2 is the mask sized to the frame window;
layer 3 is the image that is visible in the frame window).
What is within layer 2 used as mask? A duplicate of the frame layer, or just a (colored or transparent) rectangle of the size of the frame?
What kind of channel did you use for the mask?
The only reason I can think for using a mask is when we deal with non solid frames. I mean by this a frame that has some transparency parts in the border design.

I use the Pro version, one licence.
I think the demo version has limited functions.
