Template Question
I've created a show and saved it as a template. I can go to Shows, open template and it will be listed. But, if I go to Explorer, I can't find it. What is it filed under? Other templates are usually under Producer, Templates but mine aren't listed there.

Re: Template Question
Kaye,
It may have saved it in the last folder you visited. Do a search for .pst files and you should be able to find out where it went.

Re: Template Question
Hi Kaye,
Templates that you create are found in :
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Photodex\Proshow Producer\Templates
"UserName" is your own name of course.
Templates supplied by Photodex are found in the place that you mentioned.

Re: Template Question
Kaye,
You can always move your user-created templates into the ProshowProducer\content\templates folder if you like to keep things all in one place.

Actually this is not a good idea.
When you reinstall the program, or when you update the program, this folder gets replaced, and your templates will be gone.
In general, private stuff should not be kept in a program directory as a rule.
Private stuff, or things that you create can be kept in any other directory on your computer, but a program's own directories.

Re: Template Question
Something I learned after a crippling computer crash was to stop storing important things in the Documents section because it's an integral part of Windows. I lost everything stored there. This happened pre-XP, and maybe Microsoft has since remedied the problem, but as the saying goes, "Once burned, twice shy." At the very least, back up those templates.

Re: Template Question
This is what I do:
When saved, templates and are stored under user documents and settings.
Then I move them immediately to my own preferred archive and rename the pst to psh extension.
This procedure gives the flexibility to add several shows (templates) to the project using copy/paste.

Re: Template Question
Thanks Mona. WOW, am I glad you set me straight on that! I hadn't thought about that at all.
Sorry, Kaye, about passing on some poor advice.
I better get busy and protect the location of my files! Thank goodness the wisdom shared on this forum keeps me on the right path.
Thanks, Quim, for your great suggestion as well.

Re: Template Question
Thanks everyone. I recently bought an external hard drive. So, per Barbara's suggestion I backed them up to that.
