Help adding downloaded templetes

Postby HunnyB » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:55 pm

I have downloaded zip folders of 2 different templetes. I can find them on my computer, and
have tried to follow the instructions on here to add them to my show. BUT I CANNOT GET THE HANG OF IT.
Anyone have a step by step procedure I can read? Do I open my show, then add the templete? Or do I make the
templete my "new" show???

DO THE TEMPLETES WORK IN PRODUCER 2.7 ?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP.

Installing templates

Postby mjd1988 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 3:42 pm

Hi Hunny B,

I'm not sure if a Producer template can be loaded in Gold. A while back someone had a template created in Producer 3.1942 and I was still on .1924 and it didn't work for me.

The way I use the template is I open Producer, then find the.pst file for the template. Let's say the template for the time being is in a folder called C:\download\photo album. I go to the toolbar and click open - make sure you select all files as the .pst file won't show up. I then click on photo album to open it in Produceer. I then go to the toolbar and click on "show" then click on "show template" To save it I simply click "save template" and give it a name I'll remember what it does.

If you want to incorate it in your show, (Producer) I simply copy the slides that I want, close the template, open my show and paste in my show. Then I add the pictures that I want to use.

In Producer, you can also open a project - in plain English, this allows you to have your show open and then open the templates in a separate project and you just need to go back and forth on the project tabs. Makes it easier to go back and forth and you don't have to keep closing your show or the templates.

Hope this helps you.
Monique

Trouble Loading Template into Producer

Postby Curtiscop » Mon Nov 12, 2007 6:44 pm

I downloaded the 'WATERPLAY' template from the file section. When I unzipped the folder it had 3 files in it:

waterplay.pst
waterplay.pxc
sc-colororb_003.png

In PRODUCER I went to show templates, IMPORT, and found the directory. The only file that showed and I was able to copy was the waterplay.pst file. Imported the file, and it shows in my templates now. However, it's missing files. How to I bring the 'pxc' and 'png' files in? Also, what is a 'pxc' and 'png' file.

O.K. .... you can all tell I'm new to this, HUH ?? Would appreciate knowing how to import ALL the files, or what do I do with them.

Thanks in Advance,

Curtis

Hi Curtis

I also have the waterplay template.

when you open the template in Producer
you should see 5 slides in the slideline.

When you open the template you may be asked
"some files in the waterplay are missing.
Would you like to search for them?

Click "yes"

Go to where you have the tepmplate folder and select
sc-colorb7_003.png then click "open"
then click "ok"

It may say that there is still a file missing but
just ignore this.

Now your slide show should have the colors and bubbles showing.

double click on the second slide, go to "Layers" and
you will see a "Contents Of Slide" list
scroll down to the last one that says "Image"
click on it and it should now be highlited.
Over on the right you will see "Select File",
click on this and now you have to select an image from
your files that you want to use and click on it. then OK.

This will insert your chosen image in that spot, then click "done"

you should now see your image in the second slide.
Repeat this for each slide, then once done you are ready to play the templat show

Hope this help
guyfromoz.

I have not played with templates much, but as far as I know, the pxc file
is just a temp file that proshow uses and does not even need to be there
(it will be regenerated). I often remove the pxc file for a show when things
get confused (sound suddenly is screwed up or timing is all of a sudden off
for example). The pxc file can be fairly big, but is only a temp thing.

Curtis--

For a description of templates vs show files and the explanation of various file type extensions, see the "Sticky" post at the top of this forum section... a combination of a post of mine & nannybear's.

Guyfromoz, Mikey, and Diana,

Thank you , thank you ..... IT WORKS NOW !!! I just might start getting the hang of all these 'features'. Really do appreciate the speedy reply. Once I get these templates down, I'll be ready to tackle 'keyframing'.

Again 'Thanks a Bunch' for helping the 'NEWBIE',

Curtis
