What old image? There shouldn't be any image when you apply a template.
Does your template contain any image at all, or just gray boxes?

I just noticed that you said "I drag three images".

When you drag images, you do it ONE AT A TIME !!
Not two, and not three. Just ONE !!
You drag one image into one layer - where it is marked "Image 1". If the image is duplicated because the style requires it, then it will be duplicated automatically after you drag it.
But, one at a time, please.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to tell you.
I also have some difficulty in understanding you.
Perhaps somebody else can help you more, or you may wish to write to Photodex Support.

I wonder if you're not making sure the empty placeholder is highlighted before you drop a photo on top of it. If the placeholder isn't highlighted (selected), the photo will land above or below it, not inside it.
