Question about Importing Templates

Postby osharr » Thu Dec 17, 2009 11:24 am

Good afternoon all . Not having alot of experience with Producer , I have a question about importing templates .I know that you use Import in Producer , does the program save a copy in C:\Documents and Settings \Username\Application data\Photodex\Proshow Producer ? Can I delete the original file or do I have to keep the original right where I imported it from ? If I have to keep it , I'll make a folder for them instead of just importing from my desktop .
Thanks ,
Ollie

I also have a question

I have never used a template . Prefer to just create my own shows. But now I am learning you can save some slides as styles so am trying this out. My problem is that after I download a template, I find the zip file and extract. But the last 3 I have tried, the only file that extracts is an adobe file that when I double click will not open. What the heck am I doing wrong
Thx

Hi Ollie,
Yes, when you IMPORT a template, the program does save a copy of the template in the path that you mentioned.
When you need to use this template, you have to OPEN it:
In Producer 4.1:
Show > Show Template > Open Template

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

I think that you refer to the templates that you have downloaded from the section Members Created Files of this forum.
Template files have the extension .pst and they are not Photoshop files.
You don't need to double click on them.
You have to IMPORT them first in Producer: Show > Show Template > Import
When you want to use the template, you go to Show > Show Template > Open Template

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I'm not sure that I understand the question.
You can save each of your individual slides as a slide style, yes.
You can save the same slide as one of several slides in a template, yes.
But these are separate functions in Producer. Two things, not one.
You can have both, of course, but separately.

Yes that is what I wanted to know.
Since I haven't used these before and have run into a little problem, now my question would be. You simply take your slides and slide them into the layers that say no image and then it will work. Seems like the one I tried had 11 layers, which I assumed were pictures . So I put in 11 pictures. But when it played back, all I saw were four of the pictures. Am I not understanding this?
THX (always appreciated.

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what you are trying to do.
What do you mean by:
You simply take your slides and slide them into the layers that say no image and then it will work.

Are you trying to create a template or a style?

Open Producer, press on F1. This will bring up the Help .
Read about "slide styles" and "templates".
It will give you step by step instructions on what you have to do.
