Kids Growing up- Music suggestions

Postby Armand Mizan » Wed Jun 21, 2006 10:22 pm

Hi all

I am making a show of the first 6 years of my daughter growing up.
I am looking for suggestions as to what music people would recommend?
Is it best to go for instrumental, without any lyrics, or go for words with appropriate lyrics, like "girls just want to have fun" for example
Also what kind of feel would you have..would you recommend a fast moving, show or a more traditional slower theme to it.

Any advice as always is appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Cheers

Hi Armand,

To begin with, good choice of music. Like you, I prefer instrumental music.

Some ideas for your show. I expect you are starting at the baby stage. Therefor her parents come to mind. A picture of the pregnant mum and so forth. The music should be gentle and slide duration accordingly. Music tempo should increase as the child grows up. Sorry can't give music ideas.
As I have suggested elsewhere in this forum, (if you have suitable portraits) as a sort of resume, create a very quick succession of photos showing the girl growing up. To be effective, you may have to resize all the pictures so that the eye distance and eye position is the same and all the pictures cropped to the same size.

I am sure this will take several hours to put togeether and I would love to see what you come up with.

Regards
Paul

Song Suggestions

Postby sumgrl19 » Thu Jun 22, 2006 1:57 am

Here are some songs I have used:

"Fireflies" by Faith Hill
"In My Daughters Eyes" by Martina McBride
"Let them be Little" by Billy Dean
"Handprints on the Wall" by Kenny Rogers
"Father's Love" by Bob Carlisle
"These are the Days" by Keith Urban
"Happy Girl" by Martina McBride
"Daddy's Little Girl" by Martina McBride

Most of these songs would be just perfect for a little girl's slideshow.
Let me know if you need any more help.

sumgrl19 You seem to know your songs so I was wondering if you could give some songs that would be good for a boys slideshow, I have a 2 and a 6 year old and would love some idea's.

Well, I have two boys and I have noticed that it is much harder to find songs for boys than for girls...but here are a few:

(there are some repeats)

Celine Dion - "Beautiful Boy"
Billy Dean - "Let them be little"
Kenny Chesney - "Thank God for kids"
George Straight - "The best day of my life"
Keith Urban - "These are the days"
Kenny Rogers - "Handprints on the wall"
Charlie Robison - "Photograph"
Steppenwolf - "Born to be Wild"
Bryan Adams - "Here I am"

I will try to think of some more...

Dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone

Armand,
I came into this late, and am new, but I did a slide show(using another Software product) on each of my little girls, and I used the following songs.

Daddy's Little Girl - Victoria Jackson
Isn't She lovely - Livingston Taylor.

I love the song Isn't She lovely By livingston Taylor, and there is also an instrumental version of it. This is the one i used.
I was able to find it on Itunes. I also found a disney cd with numerous songs on i liked.

I also love the above suggestions. and when I redo my slide shows in PSP I will look at these songs too.

Hi,

An additional opinion, which seems to work great for many other occassions, use a KARAOKE version of the song of your choice, provided that one is available. There is a version of "Isn't she lovely" out there and the medley can fix in many situations. Once you start down this road, you will see that karaoke songs could be a great solution in many situations.

Enjoy....
Smile... why not! You are online and no one can see!

One that I love and have used since I did a video slide show by the old pause and record method between two vcrs, WOW have we came a long way!

Peter Cetera's "Daddy's Girl"
This is the perfect tempo for having fun photos, as well as "Heart Tugging" ones.

Lyrics:
When the sun goes down and its getting late
You say its time for bed
She just takes her time
Acting like she never heard a word you said
Little baby wanna hold you tight
She dont ever wanna say good night
Shes a lover, she wanna be daddys girl
When the morning comes
And its time to go start another day
She wont let you leave, and she does her best
To try to make you stay
Pretty baby gonna start to cry
She dont ever wanna say good bye
Shes a lover, she wanna be daddys girl

She dont ever wanna be without you
Never have to worry she wont doubt you
Then she puts her head upon your shoulder
Says she marry you when she get older

When the time has come, and shes old enough
To be on her own
She wont understand why youre feelin sad
Cause shes leaving you all alone
Little woman gonna make you cry
You dont ever wanna say good bye
Shes a lady, shell always be daddys girl

Little woman gonna break your heart
Gonna miss her when youre both apart
Shes a lady, but shell always be daddys girl

Shell always be daddys girl
Shell always be daddys girl
Shell always be daddys girl
Shell always be daddys girl
Shell always be daddys girl
Shell always be daddys girl

I don't know who sings this but there is Butterfly Kisses and one that Shirley Temple sang in a movie don't know the title but it goes something like this.

When I grow up in a year or two or three
I'll be happy as can be
like a birdie in the tree

Sorry that's all I remember.
