Postby nannybear » Mon Sep 10, 2007 4:52 pm

I am doing my Mom's tribute and she loved the song "Apalachiacola" by Roger Whittaker. I cannot find it anywhere, does anyone have it or know where I can find it? All help appreciated! Hugs Nannybear

Try Walmart, there is one there by Bing.

I did a google search for Roger Whittaker and Apalachicola and there were several references to Apalachicola Doin' Time by Dale Crider. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but if you have iTunes you can listen to abit of it to make sure.

Thanks!! It is about a Polynesian who goes out to the sea and realizes he will not make it back. He asks the "Littel Seagull" to go back and take care of his wife. Very pretty.....and not sure it is not on any of his Albums?? just weird, I will check out Wally World..hugs Jan

Jan,

I check iTunes and found Apalachicola sung by Heather Waters... not sure if that is a version that fits... There was also on iTunes Apalachicol Doin' Time (same one Ivan mentioned)..

Hope you find the song...

Take care,

Jan,

Yahoo Music has several songs by Roger Whittaker. The one that sounds like yours has a different title, "The Last Farewell". I hope that is it! Good Luck!

Hi Jan - I found the Whittaker website and it lists all his albums and songs and I cannot find that song. Maybe it is a sentence in the song and not the title?? The one that Colleen references has the line it it "for you are beautiful, and I have loved you dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can say"

You would recognize this one as it used to be played on the commercial for his albums.

Getting closer.....

Here is a clip of a CASSETTE version - seagull in the words and all.

But it's only a minute clip.

Look toward the very bottom toward the right. There is also an 800 number if you want to contact them. Surely you could find this somewhere on CD instead though. What a pain it would be to have to wait for the cassette version and then still have to change it into digital. Ugh.

I did a search on Lycos and found that clip again in mp3 form. It's still only 1:10 long though. :(

The right click works on it....

Also, apparently it's spelled Apalachicola. There is no "a" after the "i" and so makes a difference when trying to find something that unique.

I hope you find something you can use.

Jan,

I searched and searched but only found that one place where you can get the song and then only on cassette. It's too bad you can't get the whole song from the via the internet and in mp3.

I wonder if he knows someone that can put the whole song in digital form, upload it and then have you get it that way?

You are likely on a short time frame, yes? :(

Sep 23 is deadline. I have emailed him personally as he does have an MP3 clip on there. Maybe he has the whole thing back'd up. If not we will go with the Last Farewell, she liked that one as well. The universe shall decree which tune is used. Considering she is up there now, I am sure she will nudge someone if that is the one she really wants...
