2 questions... :)

Postby dtpitts » Tue May 01, 2007 5:06 pm

Two questions for you tonight...

1) I am looking for song suggestions for a Memorial. There are so many new songs out these days that I know I have heard and thought at the time that they would fit great in a video, but just can't think of them now! Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

2) When I am making a video and there are several tracks of music, what is the best way to try and get all of the music tracks to have the same volume? I have been just trying to listen and change each one according to what I see fit. As I listen on the computer they "seem" as if they are all about the same volume, but sometimes when played on the TV I see that they are not. Any helpful hints on that???

Thanks loads!

What a great list, I can't wait to check them all out. I recognize some and know that they will be good choices. Thanks for taking the time to respond and share this list with everyone!

I will also look into the track adjusting too.

This is a great list. I recently used I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You by Alan Jackson in a memorial. It brought everyone to tears.

Another one I used recently was

When I Get Where I am Going - Dolly Parton/Brad Paisley

Another good one is "I'll remember you" by Don Ho. He recently passed away and that song will be a classic forever.

I've had the same problem. If all your audio files are MP3 format there a fair number of programs that will allow you to level them all as a batch to a consistent value. I haven't found one I really like enough to recommend it and the results have been spotty. Like the comment above indicated, the only way I've found that really works is to pull each file into an editor (I use Audacity) and set the levels there. I haven't then used the trick of writing it out as a single track but Audacity does a pretty good job.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Dick, I do use the MP3 format, so I will check that out for sure. It would be great to have a better way to try and work with the music volumes. Pass it along if you find something that works wonderful one day. I think it is a pet peeve of mine with the music volumes!! :D

I've used Acoustica Audio Mixer-you can blend all the songs together as one track-also can take only parts of the song that you want -and you can control the volume.

I used "Wish You Were Here" by Mark Harris for my Grandpa's Memorial, along with Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" & "To Where You Are" & "February Song"
Here are the lyrics to "To Where You Are"

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
