Music for India

Tue Oct 18, 2011 11:16 am

I spend 3 weeks in northern India and Nepal. i am making a show but stumped for music. i have Jai Ho and some Indian Sika music. I dont like the rest on the Slumdog cd. however, i think all Indian music will get boring. i am looking for other song suggestions that woudl complement the theme. thanks in advance.

Try searching for Bollywood keywords on YouTube. There was also an old band called Punjabi they might be useful for you too.

Try Pond5.com. Search India under World Music - they usually range in price from $5 - 90.

I just came back from Israel and was looking for some Middle Eastern Music. Pond 5 had some nice stuff.

You might take a look through the incompetech.com site and search through by genre.

I haven't looked to see what Kevin MacLeod has released lately but just stumbled on the announcement that he has teamed up with SmartSound. Apparently the website offers some amount of customization to a select number of his compositions which is pretty cool. Check it out. You can customize the lengths of music by any length up to 3:15 min.

I would encourage those of you who've used his music in the past to donate something toward his efforts so he can continue to afford creating new music. He's one of the rare artists that offers creative commons attribution music that includes ability to use it commercially.
