Are you hearing everything?
If you're using a typical sound card and typical speakers, then for possibly no money at all you can vastly improve the sound: Plug a decent amplifier into your sound card and then use decent speakers hooked up to the amp. I managed to buy a nice amplifier for $60 on Craig's List (because I couldn't get away with stealing my husband's), and then I hooked up the speakers from the stereo here in my office to the amp. (Didn't like the amp with the stereo.) Even with moderately good speakers and amp, the quality difference is enormous.
If, by chance, you have a nice little stereo system in one of your rooms, and if no one listens to it very much, for goodness' sake, put it to good use! Syncing motion and sound is so much easier if you can hear every little thing in the music. There's also just the plain old pleasure factor of listening to music through a nice stereo system.

Re: Are you hearing everything?
Finally did that about a month ago when I changed out my computer desk. Even inexpensive stereo speakers sound better than the moderate priced computer specials. Best part of this deal I had a good stereo receiver and speakers that were gathering dust (gifted to me).
The only thing that I would add is be sure when you turn things on, (particularly if you sound card does not have a line out jack) to have all the volume settings set to low. I nearly blew myself out of the office and it scared the h*** out of our dog.

There's always one person who gives me the first laugh-out-loud of the day. It was beginning to look as if today would be a dud, but you came riding in on a sound wave and saved the day.
The only time I've been blown backward in my chair is when my settings are normal but someone has ramped up the volume for their YouTube video. I don't know why on earth they do such a thing unless they're trying to scare the poor dog, which in this case, is me.
If you haven't done it yet, get those speakers up at ear level. Won't help the dog, though.

What I really need are a new pair of ears - I'm losing the high frequencies these days. As for blowing yourself out of the chair, that is why I suggest that people do NOT start a show with 15 seconds of silence like some like to - that is just enough time for the viewer to think there is a problem and turn the volume all the way up ... BOOM!!!

Then there was the old Erma Bombeck classic ...
** Here's to Erma who once gave her children a record called
"The Best of Marcel Marceau" and then told them to turn it down.
It really existed ... http://stuckbetweenstations.org/2008/05 ... l-marceau/ )
