music
Hi, I am making a show for my nephew who is 6 mos old. I have pictures from birth till now. My problem is what music is appropriate for someone so young. I know he won't music from noise but, my sister will.
Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Bernard

I know he won't (know) music from noise
Absolutely not true! And there is a growing body of research to demonstrate this.
You can read up about it here...

Listening to Mozart has not been shown to make babies "smarter," but it does have other benefits.
and here...

but as to choice of music for the show....
I would recommend Classical selections (see the first link above for some suggestions) if you are interested in his musical tastes. If not, then go with the type of music his mother would enjoy listening to as she watches the show.
Louis
P.S. If you know the styles of music she likes, let me know and I would be glad to suggest some specific songs you might consider for the show.
P.P.S. For a more advanced look at the role of music in our lives - as infants or otherwise, I recommend the current book I am reading on the subject..
The Singing Neanderthals : The Origins of Music, Language, Mind, and Body by Steven Mithen
Here is a good review of the book....

Re: music
There are many different songs you can choose for a baby show. Any of the lullabies we all remember from our childrhood would work. Celine Dion had a album a couple of years ago called Miracle, which has a number of songs that would work. Jewel has a lullabye album also.
Here are a few I've used in children's shows:
Beautiful Boy by John Lennon or Celine Dion
Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)-The Dixie Chicks
Here I Am- Bryan Adams
Let Them Be Little-Billy Dean
My Wish-Rascal Flatts
Smile- Uncle Kracker
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star-Jewel
Bubbly-Colbie Caillat
There are really so many out there, once you start thinking about it, you will remember lots of songs that you can use. Good luck.

Re: music
I found an album by Olivia Newton-John called "Warm and Tender" was a great source of songs for infants. It's a beautiful collection of lullabyes. I used it in a show for friend's baby that had just turned one. It was a gift from me to her.
Here it is on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000000OZA
It is also available on iTunes!!!!

Check out the song "Lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks. I've wanted to use that song but haven't had the opportunity yet! It feels very loving and emotional. Any mom will love it and very appropriate for what you're doing.

Hi
Disney songs could work as well depending on the tempo - A song like Zippa De Do Da, upbeat, kids love it, is just one of many - they have quite an arsenal of music.
Just more food for thought
Good Luck Ron
