Song Choice Help Please

Postby Patricia_C » Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:37 pm

Hello Everyone,

Can you please help me with suggestions for my family slideshow. We were able to spend the weekend at the state lakes --the whole entire family, something we haven't been able to do for years it seems. So it was like the good old days. Can't wait to make a show.

I'm looking for something special for the music. I don't want to use the same old "summer time songs"

Can anyone suggest any special family time together happy songs?

Thanks in advance.

Try these songs;
Barry Manilow: I Can't Smile Without You
Annie Lennox: Put A Little Love In Your Heart
Sonny and Cher: I Got You Babe
Faith Hill: Breathe

From the free music downloads available at Digitaljuice dot com: Homecookin and an excellent one, Gathering Time.

I hope these suggestions help some.

Patty, you might consider straight instrumentals because, unlike music with vocals, you're totally free to interpret the music as you please. Instrumentals always have a "flavor": happily upbeat, melancholy, thoughtful, silly, ponderous, and so forth. You can use the flavor of the music to design your show, and in turn, how you handle the show can shed new light on the music. This is difficult to explain, but if you think about something easily recognized such as the beginning notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (da-da-da-DAAA) which has a very "heavy" feeling to it, and if instead of using it with extremely serious photos, you use it with photos of a day in the life of a puppy, the very contrast of music and pictures heightens the humor in those pictures.

Right. No musical pieces to suggest, but maybe what I've said can help untie the knotty problem you've got here.

REM: Shiny Happy People

Works well with big groups when you have a lot of people laughing

Green Day: Good Riddance

Bad Title but it's an acoustic song with great lyrics

This is an interesting one......

The only "G rated" song I ever heard about a lake was "Indian Lake" by the Cowsills. ( Now I am really dating myself)

Here is a link so you can hear the song and see the lyrics:

It kind of reminds me of the Brady Bunch.

Have fun.....

We skipped the light fandango, turned cartwheels 'cross the floor.
I was feeling kinda seasick, but the crowd called out for more...........
