Slide Show Trailer

Postby PhotoGeek » Thu Sep 13, 2007 8:37 am

Hello Everyone,

Hope all is well with all of you. I really appreciate everyone's help and ideas for shows. I have a quick question. I checked out one of Mark Ridout's Slide Show Trailer's and thought it was really cool and wanted to do one for the show I am currently working on. Do you guy's know where he got the music from? And, is it possible to do a trailer like that with PSG?

Here is the link of the show I am referring to : http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewsho ... 7924&alb=0

Thanks again for all your help.

I don't know where he gets his music but if I am not mistaken the drums/music in the Trailer is from a recent movie.

The music sounds so familiar. I just can't think of the movie. If you think of it please let me know.

Thanks for your reply. Have a good one.

It's the teaser for the movie "The Fountain". Yes it is possible to do a trailer like that in PSG. It's just a matter of syncing slides to the music.

Here's the audio file if you want it:

Music from other people's shows

Postby Shaker » Mon Sep 17, 2007 11:41 pm

When I come across music which I like in other people's shows, as you have, I download it from the show using Audacity. The process is easy and painless.

Hope this helps.

Shaker,
Although I have audacity, I didn't know that you could do that with it. Download from the Photodex site? Very interesting.

Oh Yea, you can do this by what is basically recording the song in Audicity while it plays in another application at the same time. You have to set it up though and it depends on the type of soundcard or onboard sound chip you have in your computer because they are all different and use different names for input/output .

Ben-

You've peaked my curiosity. Exactly how would you go about doing this. I just downloaded Audacity and am looking at "Greek" stuff here.

Just wondering.

Additional Suggestions

Scott -

I haven't used Audacity but I do use an excellent audio recording program called "Free Hi-Q Recorder" from Roemer Software.

http://www.roemersoftware.com/free-sound-recorder.html

This is a great little audio recording program thats virtually a "no brainer" to use. I liked the free version so much that I decided to purchase the upgrade version which allows me to record at a max bit rate of 320 dB. I use my Hi-Q recorder to record and compile music CD's as well as background music for my ProShow DVD slideshow productions, its great.

Here's another web site you can look through that lists "tons" of audio recorder programs:

Good luck :)

In Audacity you just turn on "record what you hear" and it will do just that.

Caveat: keep in mind that using virtually anything you capture this way is going to be in violation of copyright provisions. Be careful if you choose to use it how exposed it makes you.

Dick has a good point. Be cautious when doing this. Copyright Copyright Copyright!

I also want to point out that turning it on will be different depending on the type of soundcard or soundchip you have within your computer. With my Audigy 2 soundcard it is indeed "record what you hear" or something of that nature. But on my computer that has a soundchip it is not very straight forward. In fact when I open Audacity my selections are not available and I have to go into control panel and find the source name and force it to do what I want.

I tend to use the method when I want to record a home movie soundtrack that I want to put on a CD or in a slideshow. For instance a graduation speech that I videoed of my niece with a point and shoot camera, the video itself sucked so I then play the video in my video editor, record the speech while the video is playing and take the soundtrack and put it in a slideshow. Something like that.

Yes . . . let me echo the comments just made on copyrights. Be sure to keep this in mind as you use your recording software
