Video production mixed with slides.

I have a complicated question. I need to do a corporate training DVD which will include a video and slides. The individual in the video will be speaking and at times referring to a slide which will need to come up on the screen. Can I layer slides over the video and through keyframing shift from the video to the slide being discussed while the voice continues on?

This is difficult to describe but I hope this makes sense.

Would appreciate any help you might be able to offer.

You can do everything with a video that you can do with a still picture. The video will be on one layer and the picture on another.

You could, for instance, make the video smaller (-ve zoom) to one corner(or fade out completely), and have the picture appear elsewhere on the screen while the sound continues to play.
