Lots of images, little time and a nested menu...

Postby JoeDog » Fri Aug 10, 2007 9:59 am

I am in charge of producing the following type of slideshow. Up to 600 individuals with up to 6 images a piece. The directory structure im working with has a folder with folders named with the name of the person the image belongs to and each image in the folder is named with the title of the image, the media, and the size. We did it like this initially so I could use /f and /o to put a text object on each slide describing that slide.

My biggest area of concern is management wants a nested menu system plus the ability to let the entire show play without pausing.

Menu should be 1st screen a-f g-l m-p q-z (not exact, just example) then if you select a-f you'd get a page with A B C D E F and if you select A then you get Tommy Ables Jimmy Ackers etc, and if I select Tommy Ables it runs only his part of the show. When I loop all I need it to run through all of each artists show...

Please ask questions if I have made this too confusing... I am VERY n00bie :? .

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can get there from here for a couple of reasons (we'll
see if anyone else knows different??):
1) I don't think there is any way the DVD menu system of Photodex could
handle that task.

2) I have heard mixed reviews and comments from people about how
different players interpret the DVD menu differently - there appears to
be somewhat less than a uniform standard in this regard.

You might want to check out the following product that seems to do
almost everything for menu's (I have not used it, but many people have)

Joe,
I think Mikey's right, you can't get there from here.

Don't know what your budget is, but Adobe Encore can do this with some time and patience.

You could probably create a number of shows in PSP, perhaps 4-5, and export as AVIs. Then import to Encore and create all your menus, sub-menus, chapters.

There are a few people around here far better versed in Encore than I, but I think you're going to need an exteranl piece to accomplish this. Too complex a menu structure for PSP, IMHO.
