the smallest presenter
Hi,
i take my shows on the rounds and looking to save space and wight.
beside a laptop what can I use to screen my shows?
is there a mini computer?
anybody has experience using a tablet connected to a projector? if yes, how powerful it has to be?

Re: the smallest presenter
Hello Harel!
I have a similar desire, small computer as presenter. Not for projection, but for diplaying on big TVs. I tested two solutions so far:
1) Asus VivoStick, running Windows 10. Requires an external keyboard/mouse/touchpad solution, a power supply (included), it does not run on a battery! Unit has no internal display, you must use the projector/TV as monitor, awkward in some public situations. Very small though. Connects with regular size HDMI. Has worked well for me up to full HD resolution. Doubtful with 4K. You must be careful to not further clutter up the internal storage, suppress updates, throw out garbage that came installed etc. Performs far better for me than some customer reviews suggest, but probably better suited to be attached to the rearside of a TV permanently, comes with a holding device for that purpose.
2) A windows tablet. I have an 8"-screen Acer Iconia W4. Great battery time, quite a few hours, even after some years of usage. The on-display keyboard should be all you need for work with presentations. Has HDMI (micro) outlet. Here's the drawback: Got it nearly four years ago and for another purpose. Resolution is below full HD!! Looks quite ok on TV when you run a film, but today one would want at least 1920 x 1080 output.
Check out Acer, Asus and other brands for Windows tablets with fullHD output (other Operative platforms are useless for me).
The NuTech (oops!Chinese!) brand has interesting 8" tablets with full HD. Generally fairly good customer reviews, except for WiFi performance, lagging! Attractive price though (80-90 $ at some vendors). https://www.windowscentral.com/nuvision-review. This tablet I haven't tested, but consider it myself.
Good luck!
Wolf

Wolf !!
Glad to see your input here. It was only last week that I accessed your website. I was looking for your entry on "Alleluhia", a Christmas Chronical which you produced. Finally found it. Afterwards, I looked at your complete website. Nice ! Very nice in fact !!!
Happy New Year to you and yours !! Never stop doing what you do !
Best regards...

Wolf, thank u very much
Re: the smallest presenter
Hi Harel,
I just noticed your post so maybe you've found what you are looking for already. Just do a search on amazon.com for "media player" and you'll find a bunch of tiny players. Pick one that fits your particular needs.
Here's one that looks like it would play most proshow output files (I use mp4), and it is smaller than a deck of cards: https://www.amazon.com/Micca-Full-HD-Po ... op?ie=UTF8
Only $40, too!

Re: the smallest presenter
Thank u Bob,
did u try executable file on it?
did u try executable file on it?
Re: the smallest presenter
No, I did not. I think that an executable file (one that has the .exe extension) would require a computer. Maybe a KODI unit running on a Raspberry Pi? Here is a good rundown on putting one of those together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCSJ8QklyK4
I've tried several tiny players but only to playback videos like my proshows. The unit I am currently using is a KDLINKS 720 that I got from amazon (not one of the tiny ones, but still compact). It will play iso files as well as .avi, .mkv, etc. Unfortunately, it looks like they are not going to be making that player any longer. I have an old "Patriot" player that I use in my RV. Small and plays almost any video file, but the menu system is pretty basic. I guess it is time to upgrade to a newer one that has a faster processor.
By the way, if you can find one that can delete files, that is a big plus so you don't have to keep track of what you've watched all the time.
Hope this helps. Good luck finding what you are looking for....
