Best video format to use in Proshow

Does it matter what video format I use to add to a PSP presentation I want to finish as a .exe file. My original files are in the Canon MTS format.

They are easily convertable but I wondered if it made any difference.

If Proshow knows how to use them, do not convert : each conversion downgrades quality. Then it's better do the least conversions
