Version 9 is out

Tue Aug 22, 2017 10:48 am

OK, version 9 is out. Anyone jumping on this. I did on the last one and all I received for the money was some music I don't use often.

Let us all know if its worth the upgrade money.. NO I don't think its a 64 bit version..

To be honest, and unfortunately, I don't think that they will ever come out with a 64 bit version.

I received a reply from Photodex and indeed it is still 32 bit.

Naturally, my V8 free upgrade expired 1 month ago.

I am not to impressed with the new features and 90$ is still a lot of money for a hobby user, so I think I am going to skip this one.

Demonstrating Photodex's wisdom in being a Windows only application, since the next major Mac OS release will not support 32bit applications. :D

The reply I got via Twitter is they are working hard to bring 64 bit but do not have an ETA. I got the same response from them at the end of last year.

We will get it when Windows announces that 32bit apps will no longer be supported.

I started with version 5. Bought ver. 6 but videos it yields are of lesser quality than ver. 5. Also tried ver. 7 and 8. Same thing. So I'm just sticking with ver. 5. The only real inducement to me would be an increase in PQ, and that never seems to be present. All the other "enhancements" are pretty much meaningless to me.

So with all that said, are there any useful updates in 9? Sorry no 64bit but how about what they do have and not what it doesn't have. So what are we buying this time is what I asked..
So who purchased and whats new?

Deadman: did you follow the link to the Photodex site given in the first response to
your original posting? This goes into great detail about the latest version, including
all the new facilities - http://www.photodex.com/producer9. Only you can decide
whether they are useful or not.

I still have big doubts about giving $ 90 for the changes. Of all the technical innovations of particular
interest are Follow Filters, direct modification of the scale, and a new function of the modifiers "Bounce".
The first two possibilities, I think, require serious refinement. At the very least, Follow Filters are not suitable
when changing the scale of the control layer.
A direct modification of the scale - makes it difficult to control the layers in the viewing window.

What are the opinions of advanced users of the program in this respect?

P.S. The second reason to postpone the update is that the developers are more concerned with raising money
from regular customers. Therefore, significant updates are made no earlier than 13 months, when the period
for a free update expires. It's not fair, I think, every update costs $ 90, it's 36% of the new purchase.
The eighth version was also updated in 13 months, and the changes made to it did not cost 90 dollars.
It turns out, in three years I buy Proshow Producer completely, as for the first time.
It makes sense to postpone the update for six months, maybe then there will be an opportunity to update
to 10 versions in the next year. :)))
Provided that significant updates will be of interest to developers. :(
