Advice please re Song Lyrics on display synced to song

Postby Bald Runner » Sun Aug 07, 2016 7:48 am

Hi everybody,

I am an infrequent PSP user, looking for some advice.
I have been asked to undertake a ProShow Producer slide-show for a wedding and the requester (the groom's mother) has asked me to include a song (Song for my son by Mikki Viereck) with some images and the lyrics appearing on screen. The photos would be of her son and I guess that this would be for the duration of one slide as she wants it at the end.
I imagine that as the song plays, the lyrics would fade in and fade out and simultaneously, different background images would come and go. I think however that where the lyrics would change frequently as the song progresses, the background images would change less frequently, perhaps 6 images for the song duration - 3:05 mins
I have PSP 7 but don’t use it very much, however, I have a vague idea that the effect would be achieved using layers (which I have seldom used) :?
I would be grateful if you would please advise me if I am on the right track?

Thanks in advance

Kind of like this version I found on youtube?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WKCj2s8pmI

I'm not saying use this, of course, but it could be a guide for you. (maybe the groom's mother saw this too  )

Personally, I think it would be easier to do something like this in a video editor rather than PSP. It would just be easier to have the photos on one layer and the lyrics on another. Then you can lengthen or shorten each as needed in order to match the timings to the song.

I'm sure someone will be along soon to disagree with me and show you how much easier it is to do in PSP. :D But I stand by what I said.

Joe,
Exactly like that.
That is indeed the clip she saw...
I do have Serif MoviePlus - not sure if that is adequate as a video editor. If so I could use that to create that aspect of the show and import that video clip into PSP...

Mark and Joe,

Not sure why you have decided that you should work in one single slide with layers.
What I saw in that YouTube example, is a show. A full ProShow Producer show. :D
Since it has to last 3.05 min, I wouldn't even dream to make it in one slide.

So, if you go along the show idea, you could have slides with just the words on a black background (or some other color), as well as slides with an image as background, on which the words appear.
If there are several rows of words, one after the other, then that is done in keyframes (for the captions).
Each slide can last as long as you need it.

Rather simple, but very time consuming.

If you need this at the end of the show, just copy and paste all the slides at the end of your other show.
If your final product is a DVD, then this song/show could be a separate chapter on your DVD.

Good luck.

If you opt to use Serif MoviePlus I'm sure it's more than adequate for the job.

If you decide to use PSP, I agree with Mona, use separate slides for each image change.

I didn't look at the whole show so I don't know if there's any captions that overlap where images change. That would be trickier in PSP. But you don't want to copy that YT show exactly anyway.

Mona and Joe, thank to you both for taking the time to reply.

Mona, can I please ask:

Do I assume that you mean for me to have those slides with the lyrics and images, inserted at the relevant place in the show with the slides coming on one after the other, adjusting the slide and transition times to synchronise with the audio? (just to make sure i understand your advice correctly?)

Yes, that's what I mean.
Isn't this what we always do in a show?

BTW, the transitions in that YouTube video are all A/B transitions.
