Darken video to appear as a twilight video

Postby DHutchens » Mon Aug 17, 2015 7:31 am

How can an MP4 video shot in daylight be darkened in PSP 6 to appear as though it was filmed at twilight?

You could try using the brightness feature in Producer, but keep in mind that it will effect the overall brightness of the entire video, objects, people etc. Another possibility would be using a semi-transparent mask to achieve the effect you are looking for.

A mask won't work. Instead, use a simple layer above the video layer. Create a black color solid and reduce its opacity in the Adjustments tab, and keep changing the opacity until you get the effect you want. If you're good with such things, an even better solution might be achieved with a .png image designed like a window screen with thin black lines set very close together and running both horizontally and vertically. It's something I've used in the past for other types of effects.

You are so right Barbara. I was multi-tasking at the same time, thinking one thing and typing another when I posted my reply.

At least you have an excuse. When I do that kind of thing, I'm completely puzzled. It reminds me of my poor father who finally gave up calling everyone by their right name and instead called us all Queenie. That was the dog's name.

Laughing....4 girls in my family, all with first names starting with a T, so my confusion comes naturally!

Maybe you try to play with Adjustment effects (Brightness,White and Black Point,Contrast)?
