New release 7.0.3518

Postby Jeep » Tue May 26, 2015 1:02 pm

This release is perhaps correcting some problems that we have noticed here or there.

I have just tried this following feedback from Photodex customer support - (very quick response by the way). I cannot see any difference in the behaviour with my specific problem as I outlined in the earlier v7 thread. I am now trying to "Report a problem" and my information is "being gathered" - no idea how long this will take, but it looks like the PC could be left on all night to finish this task!

I've tried this release, it seems worse than before. When I click on Custom video file to output my show, ProShow suddenly closes and there is no autosave.psh created. Photodex is advised.

To update my situation. I tried to send a problem report via the help menu and PSP crashed and closed. My problem show has 207 slides each with a single image. Only the first slide has any captions - all transitions are a straight 3 second A/B - nothing fancy. Slide 2 is the snowflake mask (mp4 file) the preview would not work. All the other slides are manual advance (so I can talk to each image....)

As the problem report crashed I decided to make the show smaller to upload the "problem area aka slide 2". With only 3 slides following the video mask, the preview worked. This suggests that PSP may have a memory limitation? If yes, are we back to the 32 vs 64 bit question again? Now where have I filled that memory patch to get over the 4Gb limit? ..... Just tried it and it does not work. Will have trouble sending the full show to Photodex as there is some 6Gb of data and my upload speed is <1Mb....

Jeep Hi,,, You may have noticed during this past Year or Two that most or if not all of my posts have been Negative ! ( perhaps not) but surely this company needs to sit up and take notice
of what people (buyers) are asking for. In my case ,,, I have no need for any more fancy style packs or More transitions,, I can make or buy them from Dale - Anita - Mona etc. All I wish for is, that, if I make a show with a couple of dozen or Five Hundred pics, (with what ever I mix in with them) i,e. Video's style packs etc,,, is that when I render same,, no more memory loss.
(and no my computer is up to scratch) It is for this reason I have not updated to V6 - or V7. I cant imagine what it will be like if and when I step up 4K.
In closing not too long ago I read in one of your posts something about a patch for 32bit programs running on 64bit (which I have). I have done some research into this,,, but there are so many
No they don't work,, Its impossible etc, etc. that I just gave up.
Jeep,, I find this program so frustrating and yet so challenging I just cant let go.

Trust you are well.

Kind Regards
EJAB (aka) John Byron Melbourne Australia

Hi John

Here is the link to patch any 32 bits software in order it uses the RAM over 4 Gb (64 bits systems)

Hi Jeep,

Many thanks for the 4Gb link. I did eventually find my older version and "patched" the proshow.exe. It does not seem to have made any difference in that my preview (see above) did not run. Will try this newer version of the patch.

So far I have uploaded 2Gb of my 6 Gb files to Photodex so they can try to see what the issue is or why v6 worked but v7 does not - only 11 hours to go....

Thanks again.

Dave
