Original Fine snowflake mask
Hello everybody,
Those of you who remember in November 2011, I shared two video snow masks with
members and I had mentioned that I was having problems with the original video that
I created. Well, the problem was not the video but a corrupted file in PSP's program
folder.
I also said that I would share this file when the problem was resolved (I always keep my
promises).
I have made this file available for download.
Name of the file is: Original_Fine_snowflake_mask.zip
Below is the link to the YouTube Channel that I use for sharing. Everything on that
channel is free and downloadable. After your view the demo video on YouTube simply look lower on the page, you will see the download link for that particular item.

Hi Jean-Paul
Viewed UTube - great.
Down loaded and brought into a slide,
The only way I can get it to work is to make the snow the top layer masKing the slide underneath set to grayscale inverted - BUT - the falling snow is black
Any ideas anyone please.

Re: Original Fine snowflake mask
Thank you everyone. Sharing is a fever that runs in
“la bite a ti-bi”. Maggie knows everything about it;
when you catch it, it is for life LOL!!!
Mike,
you are almost there, the only thing remaining is
for you to set the slide background to a solid white. The
black snow from hell well be replaced by white snow from heaven
Layer 1, snow video mask (grayscale inverted)
Layer 2, your image
Slide background solid white
That is only one of many configurations that can be used.
Have fun,
Amicalement, Jean-Paul

Re: Original Fine snowflake mask
Hello everyone,
I received a few email requests from members of the forum asking me to
email to them: Original_Fine_snowflake_mask.zip 15.4 mb, this was possible
with Jps collage style-Circle transitions.zip; unfortunately the video file is to
large for most email services to handle.
Here is a few suggestions that MIGHT help you with your downloads:
1. If you are using MS internet explorer, try downloading with Google Chrome.
2. Try to configure your anti-virus software to accept the download.
For the last 3 years, i have been using, a anti-virus program from Microsoft called
Microsoft Security Essentials. It is very discreet and none frightening, but VERY effective.
I have had 0 problem in 3 years.
It is recommended for home and small business. Another nice thing about it,
it is free.
For your convenience, here is the link:

Re: Original Fine snowflake mask
I have used this snowflake mask in a show made by PSP v5, but am now trying to use it in a new show with PSP v6 and am failing to be able to get it to work.
Is this my inability or has there been a change in masking between v5 and v6?
I just want to have snow falling on a plain, blank slide. I have the snowflake as the top layer and have the slide background as white. I have tried with and without a second layer - this second layer has either been filled with white or black.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
Dave

Re: Original Fine snowflake mask
Show us an image of the layers and mask setting configuration. Unless I've forgotten something, masking should work the same as the previous version.
Did you use a dupe of the clip as its own mask?
My thoughts on this might not be that helpful since I've not used this exact clip. The originator had a solution earlier in the thread that helped another member. Maybe reviewing that will be the answer.

Debbie,
Many thanks for such a prompt response!
Hope this image posting works as I can't see the image in preview but cutting and pasting link seems to work....

Re: Original Fine snowflake mask
White on white will not show up on itself.
In layer 2, try using an image in the place of the solid white layer inside the mask and that should work. I tried it and it worked for me (but I used a simple image for layer 1 as the mask, a white gradient made into a transparent spot, with black chroma keyed out on the screen, moving from top to bottom).
Hope that makes sense since I don't have the file of that snow video clip.
