Folder display window

The folder display window I think that is what it is called(on the left of the preview window.I have never used this window I have checked and unchecked ever thing I can find to make it smaller or close it.Is there any method to doing one or the other.

You can always drag the dividing line on the right side of it to make it smaller. I haven't tried to make it teeny, so I don't know if there's a minimum size to it.

You can also drag up or down the dividing line inside the window between the folder list part and
where the files are showing underneath this. Also, go to 'Window' at the top of the screen and you
will see many options to choose from.
