Sending link to shows

Postby burntb4 » Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:47 am

Hi all.
Can someone tell me how to send a link to people that will allow them to see the page where all one's shows are posted. I've been sending individual links and was hoping there would be a way for friends to just click one link to Photodex that will open my MAIN page.
Thank you.

Actually, you have to sneak up on it - I don't remember the exact
trick, but if you look at your example, there is no identifying information
in it to tell people who you are.

Hi Mikey, when I sent my SIL a link to one show, she could view them all. I guess she must have clicked "main" after she watched the show?

Yes, I think that is the secret - I couldn't find it from here at work, but it seems
to me that is the secret - go to one of your shows then go up to main from there
(just clicking main when you are at the top doesn't seem to do it). You should
end up with a link that has some unique number in it.

All you have to do is send them this link and tell them your member name

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/browse

that should do it. Cheers Jan

Here's the best trick of all: Go to your album, click on the button to send someone an invitation, send it to yourself, and then right there in the email you receive will be the link that you can send to the whole world if it pleases you. Not only that, it provides you with a quick and direct link that you can place on the Desktop or in your bookmarks.

Heh heh -- even easier than that (I knew I had done this before but I had to be home
to experiment). Notice the following two links - both are valid - one takes you to one
of my test shows and the other takes you to my album - notice the difference :D

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewsho ... 9531&alb=0
http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewalb ... 9531&alb=0

All you have to do is get the link to a show in your album and change the
"viewshow" to "viewalbum" and it seems to work just fine.

Well Mikey that does seem simple enough-BUT. You said "notice the difference. When i click the first one it tekes me to your Opacity Test Show and when I click the second one it takes me to MY ALBUM(burntb4).??? So how is that happening?

  Murmph ... well, I thought I remembered the trick.
Apparently instead of a vast answer, I only came up with a half vast answer :D

It did work for me, but then, I was working with my show. I know I have
done this before, it has just been a while. I'll see if I can figure the secret out
yet. :D

OK, I think I've got it now - it does involve clicking the "Main" button, but
the secret seems to be that you have to be logged out of the sharing site.
If I am logged in and click any show then click "Main", I just get the generic
path like you posted initially, HOWEVER, if I am NOT logged into the
photodex sharing site (just browsing as a guest), then when you do a
browse member, enter your member name, click any show then click
the "Main" button. You now seem to have a link to the "Main" level
for the specified user. For example, I got the following two:

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewalb ... 0&bm=33258 burntb4
http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewalb ... &bm=118754 gpsmikey

which should resolve as indicated (I hope ... is today Friday ?? )

Your solution is more clever than mine, Mikey, but mine requires no mental effort, which leads to inner calm and perhaps a nap.
