Page turn
Hi everyone,
Hard to believe the end of summer is here and school starts again on tuesday for us here in Michigan. I have one daughter ready to go back and another not so ready. As for me......I am so tired of the fighting that I am more than ready. Anyway, I need to work on some shows in peace. Ah, a segue to my question. Please keep in mind that although I am a quick study and can do a bunch of stuff with my shows (thanks to so many nice people) my brain does not want to absorb certain things. I love the effect of page turning. Can this be done in Gold? Do I need a special photo editing software? I don't use photoshop or any of that.

Re: Page turn
Hi Beth,
I would like to learn that too... As for editing software, you should get one (Photoshop 5 or 6 can do the job and you could get it cheap on Ebay, I think). A few are free on the web, but not as good as Photoshop. Photo filtre is a good one (you can get the english patch for it), and I heard about one that is pretty similar to Photoshop, but I forgot the name...
BTW, how can you put your picture next to your post?
Cheers,
Mike

Beth,
Dave Fitzpatrick posted a method he created on the Yahoo Group a while ago along with the files and tutorial. As far as I know this is the only way to do this effect in Gold. Here's the link to the demo he did:

The gray color is actually a triangular .png file. He uploaded a tutorial as well as the necessary files to the files section of the Yahoo group.

Photoshop Elements 5.0
I just want to give you a link to a website that I use occasionally to buy software. It has PSE 5.0 for 39 $.
There are are other photoediting titles there as well for 9.99$, as well as hundreds of other titles.
The name of the website is 5dollarsoftware.com
http://www.5dollarsoftware.com/graphics.html
Have a nice day!

Photoshop Elements 5
Magnus,
The price from Adobe is $99, what do you lose or sacrifice if you get a "discounted" version. Can you register the software with Adobe and use their technical support if needed (and it will be...).
Beth,
There is a bit of a learning curve too...I am currently evaluating Elements 5 and it's hard to find free, on-line tutorials that work completely. Most of them have been made from earlier versions of Elements and the sequence of steps and/or shortcuts are different/changed.

Hi Bill,
I have purchased about ten different titles there so far.
The software has either come with or without a box. For example.... Encarta encyclopedia or Grolier encyclopedia came without boxes.
All the software have been full versions. It is sold as: OEM.
Here is some info from another website. They sell it as well... for 45 $. With box: 80 $
http://www.royaldiscount.com/adphel50oem.html#
------------------------------------
PSE 5.0 (OEM)
Original Equipment Manufacturer: OEM software is a full version which includes the CD-ROM, the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), and the product key codes. These elements are all you will need to load and run the software. The software runs exactly the same way as the full retail version (including automatic updates). The differences between OEM Vs RetailBox are:
A. OEM does not come in a box.
B. Full version OEM will only install as a full version, not as an upgrade. Only software titles listed "Upgrade OEM" can be used to upgrade from a previous version.
C. All OEM software behaves just like full version retail box software when upgrading: OEM software can be upgraded to later versions.
D. Manufacturers do not supply free technical support or installation support for OEM.
