vapor trails

Is there a way to create a vapor trail of some sort for when pictures or pictures inside objects zoom in?

Alien Skin Software has a number of cool effects including one they call "Motion Trail" --

I have also seen it done in Photoshop, but I don't remember just where I saw it (I think it was a Lynda.com tutorial for CS2). You might also want to check out the new transition effects Photodex has - there was one there this morning I saw in their add on pack that sort of did what you were asking - check out the "Dual Array Push" in their new transition pack -- http://www.photodex.com/products/transitions/v1 (watch the video demo).

You can't have too many gadgets or too much disk space !!

Lots of PIC and Arduino microprocessor stuff too !!

I want to do something along the lines of Tinkerbell when she taps her wand and the Disney castle appears along with the sparkles.

Go to http://choicebackgroundsserver.com/index.php then enter "sparkles" into the search box. I suspect one of the sparkle effects applied properly will do what you're looking for.

Yes, the wand would be the vapor trail with an explosion of stars after which, a picture could appear from within the trail.

The Sparkles that I created for Choice Backgrounds were done with Adobe After Effects and the Trapcode Particular Plug in. I wouldn't recommend running out and buying them if you're only wanting one animation. However, I believe that Highlighter Pro can do what you want at a much lower price!

It looks like highlighter pro would work. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
